Healthy Habits

Is it just me or are people REALLY over sensitive? Maybe I’m being ridiculious but I see nothing wrong with the images. Let me clairify, I think Snacker is A BIT far simply because little kids love fairies. Otherwise the others remind me of something out of Osmosis Jones. They are villians! Do people bitch and moan over other plus size villians? Let me remind you all before your bunched up panties get in the way.

Pink Pearl

Remember Pink Pearl? Ok so she was a lame villian in many ways, I never could get into her storylines. Anyway, she was part of the circus but wanted to take it over so she became a terrorist. Yea, makes sense huh. Either way, this is what Marvel came up with. Yes, Marvel! (And yes, this is prior to Disney buying them oh smart ones). Do you want to attack Marvel now? If you looking for more on her or how she got stabbed with her own ally and survived, check out her wikipedia.

The Adventurer’s Club, How I Miss Thee!

Who remembers The Adventurer’s Club? I mean it! I remember when I turned 18 this was one of the first stops on my birthday trip! I even went back to the room, grabbed my parents, and dragged them along because I loved it that much. I spent time counting down the days until I turned 21 so I could drink there. Then, my dreams were dashed away! They closed Pleasure Island, much to my sorrow, later on that same year that I could, legally, drink.

I remember loving it when Hathaway Browne would come out. Remember him? Aviator/ladies-man who used to make innuendos. I didn’t even mind the comments on my short skirt during on the Mask Room “shows”. I KNOW I wear short skirts, my husband KNOWS I wear short skirts, and after going to WDW almost every year for ten years I’m pretty sure the CMs KNOW I wear short skirts. (Not that I expect the CMs to remember me haha.) But you get the idea. But unlike in the parks where every now and then I feel like I might be being judged for how I dress, no one cared. I miss that. I missed being able to have a night life I can hop around to at the end of the day and be an adult! I mean, why else would I pack sexy panties? Just for my husband to oggle when we get back at 0500? Ok mainly but that’s beside the point!

It made me feel like Disney was more then just for kids. Now, I know this isn’t true and there are many things for adults to do. I don’t want to get hate mail over it! But sometimes after running between Pirates to drool over Jack Sparrow and the Haunted Mansion I just want a drink with adults.

Anyways, my pointless rant about it is over. Coming soon: Adventure’s At Aulani! Going to be heading there this weekend for Live! With Kelly, pin trading, and some time with hubby! Can’t wait to head to the bar… I mean restraunts…

I Am Not An Drunk

I am not a drunk. This might sound disturbing and those of you who are used to my happy-happy joy-joy blogs this is a change. I am a bartender. I like to drink but not get drunk. You see I have a curse. That curse is my body burns through meds and alcohol like it’s nothing. There is a reason it takes about ten to fifteen shots to get me a good buzz. But that said, I have a child to think of so no, I don’t get drunk.

But I still like to drink. I like the taste and see nothing wrong with a glass of wine with dinner, or in my case an amber beer. So I got to thinking, what are the best places to catch a drink in DL and WDW. I was hoping for submissions that you don’t mind sharing, though I will be doing a little research into the matter myself.

It’s been a while

So I have been finishing up finals and starting my next set of classes so I took a little time away. But that said I am back! I am can’t wait for some books to get here, I will be writing both reviews and comments on each chapter WITHOUT spoiling the content. Probably pick one story or item a section and talk about my thoughts.

The first book is The Dark Side of Disney by Leonard Kinsey. As the cover states it is about the unauthorized tips and tricks for WDW. I just couldn’t resist! First of all, sexy woman on the cover of a Disney book right away gets my attention. So I told my dear, loving husband that this was his gift to me for my birthday/Valentine’s Day/our anniversary which are all in a week of each other. (Note: He was a VERY good husband and brought me flowers and chocolate for all by my birthday. Still waiting on that since my ACTUAL birthdate isn’t until tomorrow.)

I have been semi-stalking his blog for a couple weeks now. I love the videos and writing style. The voice is very clear and it does feel like he is talking rather then writing. I am hoping the same holds true to his book. It will be the first of the books I read, once my 5-9 days of shipping pass. (DAMN YOUR SLOWNESS AMAZON!) If you would like to read his blog or find out more on the book Kinsey’s webpage is: http://www.darksideofdisney.com/

I will post the other two books later, though I will say this they are cast member accounts. That said, I don’t see the point in discussing too much about them right away when I won’t be reading them soon as they arrive.

That special place is for the Dark Side! 😛 Something about a book that includes a section on sex and drinking is perfect for the naughty girl in me! I will warn you in the posts that they are for the Dark Side book, as it will not be kid friendly and you should be advised of such. It obvious is not a family oriented book, but sometimes the adults need to have a little fun!

Changing Entertainment

It’s that time again. It’s time for the entertainment to switch up at DL. Here is an update on everything going on with the Mouse!

Fireworks (MK) – Say goodbye to the holiday display. It’s time for the off-season fireworks to come back. That’s right. It’s time for “Remember, Dreams Come True” fireworks display. I have to admit, I’ve always loved this one. Though it was origionally made to celebrate their 50th anniversary this “E-Ticket in the sky”, as it was called by some, has shown in the off season since 2009.  It really is a wonderful display and if you havn’t seen it recently it is well worth staying up late and watching. After you’ve seen it during the show is a great time to sneak in a few extra rides. The lines typically are a shorter, since everyone is watching the fireworks. The further from the main hub you get the better though. Trying to make your way through the crowds can be a pain and it is easy to loose small children.
Outline of Fireworks (So you can decide for yourself if it’s worth it) (IT IS! I PROMISE!):

  1. Opening
-Julie Andrews is heard over the speakers saying the intro
-Princess named while music from their movie plays
    -Tinkerbell’s Flight
  2. Main Street
    -Railroad Intro
    -Maple Leaf Rag (Scott Joplin)
-Baroque Hoedown (Jean-Jacques Perrey and Gershon Kingsley)
    -Main Street Electrical Parade
  3. Adventureland
    -The Tiki Tiki Tiki Room
    -Raider’s March
~Fun fact: The Eye of Mara used to be projected on the Mattahorn duirng this. I have not been —          in a couple years so if anyone knows it this is still so let me know. I always thought it looked —          amazing!
  4. New Orleans Square
    -Grim Grinning Ghosts
    -Yo Ho (A Pirates Life)
  5. Frontierland
    -Oh Shenandoah
    -The Ballad of Davy Crocket
  6. Critter Country, Fantasyland, Toon Town
-Music from varies rides, including: Splash Mountain, Peter Pan, and Country Bears
  7. Tomorrowland
    -Star Wars: Main Theme
  8. Closing
    – Tinkerbell returns
    -Remember When (LeAnn Rimes)
    Julie Andrews talks again

Parade (MK) – Now that the Christmas parade is finished they have brough back Mickey’s Soundsational Parade. If you were at DL last summer it’s the same parade that was showing then. There are nine floats that will make their way down Main Street. The floats are lovely and it is a great chance to see some characters you might miss around the park, like Mary Poppins and Bert. It is also great for smaller kids who need a break. We would line up early, about thirty minutes prior at least, and sit on the sidewalk. One person in the party, I usually make dad go so I can sit with the little one, to get food and we would eat while we waited. This ensured that the little guy got to see the parade without heads in the way, I had a good view to video tape, and we all got a nice break from walking around. Another plus, he was not too into characters up close but he loved seeing them. So this was a great way for him to be able to see the characters at a distance he thought was safe. Some do some over to shake hands but he just leaned against me and would high five them.

Fantasmic! – Another one of those must sees that you need to line up for. We normally make it a dinner event. Got get a burger, or ice cream, and stake out a spot along the fence. It’s an amazing show, another great way for kids to see a lot fo their favorite characters. It can be a little frightening, though we have always lucked out and the little ones have been asleep during it. There are loud noises and the water gets set on fire. I think that is the boys’ favorite part personally. Unfortunatly it will be closed until March. If you can time it right though it will be well worth it.

I’ll add DCA later, probably tomorrow. But until them: Peace, Love, and Pixie Dust.

I’m Back!! <3

So I had a little laptop issue. I ended up with a virus while watching The Little Mermaid ride on Youtube a week ago. I know it’s been dead since then, I’m so sorry. But I’m back so we’re gonna get this ball rolling!

Making Kids Go On Rides

http://www.dipity.com/tickr/Flickr-haunted-mansion/

Ok, so my husband and I got into this huge argument last night over rides. Now before you say that this is silly let me make sure you understand. Up until now he has been the type of, “My son will try anything and everything!” Well when it comes ot rides he doesn’t want to “scare the little guy.”

What?!

I had to go on every ride in the parks at least once EVERY TRIP! I hated the Alien Encounter rides for years, I remember trying to skirt away from the ride and hope my father would forget. Do you remember this ride? Scary monster, smelt like oranges.  Ugly thing that looked like this:
But anyway, after a few years of tears, screams, and what to me seemed torture that I dreaded each trip something amazing happened… No no the change to Stitch, this occured a couple years later. I got USED to it. Then something even mor amazing happened… I liked it! I looked foreward to it! I even looked foreward to my dad and I arguing over wether or not we had ridden it yet that trip. I loved the smell of oranges in the entry way, maybe I’m the only one who could smell them I don’t know. But they were there! I shed a tear at it’s loss, and still do when I smell rotten chilli dogs instead of the sweet sugary oranges.

My point? Making a child try every ride isn’t going to scar them for life. If you contast me with, say my cousin, whose parents never did that you will see I enjoyed my trips a lot more. Where I did try the rides, and ended up liking them, they were allowed to wait until they felt ready. As a result my aunt didn’t get to ride anything and everything that COULD be scary they found a way out of. They didn’t get to enjoy their trip at all and then when they tried to make them try SOMETHING there was a crying fit.

I am not letting that be my son. He will be told he will try ALL RIDES YOU ARE TALL ENOUGH FOR. If he doesn’t like it the first time, then he’s done until he goes back.

Agree? Disagree?
